Suns Out, Guns Out. Outdoor Classes in NYC!

Yup, that’s right — there’s no denying that spring is here. If you’re in New York, you know what that means: rooftop bars, lounging in the park, and ditching the subway to walk or bike to your destination. And, of course, it means: Suns Out, Guns Out!

Among all of the activities to enjoy in the nice weather, attending an outdoor class should definitely be on your list.

Looking for an option to sweat outside? Join one of these upcoming outdoor classes!

Uplift Studios: Saturday, May 18th, Central Park
Uplift is known for their amazing instructors and gorgeous studio on 23rd street. This weekend, they are hosting two outdoor boot camp classes in another gorgeous setting: Central Park! Join instructor Liz Barnet at 10:30am or Kat Ellis at 11:30am. Each class is $20 and all proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Classes will start at the Central Park entrance at 59th and 6th. Snag a seat here.

PedalNYC: Wednesday, May 22nd, 60th and West End
Tucked away on West End Ave and 61st street, PedalNYC has one of the best studios in NYC — they have their own outdoor space! On May 22nd, Pedal will be seriously flaunting it’s space with a 90 minute full throttle class that includes 30 minutes in the SpinBin, 30 minutes in the Catalyst (TRX), and 30 minutes sweating outside. The class is $60 and starts at 7pm. It’s expected to sell out, so book your spot early here. If you can’t make the full throttle class, be on the lookout for other outdoor options from Pedal in June, including outside TRX classes.

Sacred Sounds Yoga, Wednesdays from June 5th through August 28th, Pier 46 (Charles & West Streets)
Smell the fresh air, feel the breeze and set your drishti on the Hudson River as you practice yoga with Sacred Sounds Studio at Pier 46. Great for both seasoned yogis and beginners, this class will be a perfect escape to the summer’s heat. The Class is free and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. We recommend showing up early to reserve a spot (the class is capped at 20). BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat!).

Sixth Street Pilates: Saturday, June 1st, June 15th, July 6th, and July 20th, East River Park
Sixth Street Pilates will be hosting one of its signature classes — Burn Baby Burn — outside this summer. Taught by high energy instructor Kristen Antzulis, this class will keep you moving. You’ll do lunges, squats, and push-ups — in addition to your favorite Pilates exercises. The class will be on select Saturdays in June and July at 10am at East River Park.

Don’t forget to bring water, sunscreen, and your shades! Enjoy!
